The McCorristons of Molokai and the McCorristons of Honolulu

In July of 1863, the cousins Daniel McCorriston departed their homes in County Londonderry, Ireland, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and began a months-long voyage to the Hawaiian Islands. The cousins, together with a later arrival of Hugh McCorriston (1836-1926) and Edward McCorriston (-1872), established a large, interconnected family that remains to this day.

The McCorristons and John C. McColgan

Daniel McCorriston (1840-1927) and Hugh McCorriston (1836-1926) and their families were lucky to have many relatives throughout the Hawaiian Islands in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to the families to whom they were related through marriage, they also had a number of cousins living in Hawaii. One such cousin was John C. McColgan (1814-1890), a prominent fixture in Hawaii society and the biological father of famed hula practitioner Kini Kapahu Wilson (1872-1962).
